Lam Dong Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam have approved a 2,200ha potato farm project.

The project will begin this year and run through to 2015, and focus on Da Lat City and surrounding areas.

Training for local farmers will be provided to help modernise production techniques.

A range of potato varieties are set for production, including Atlantic, PO3 and DK96, reported the Saigon Daily.

The cost of the project will be split between the government, commercial enterprises and farmers, for a total of VND556bn (US$31.3m).
