eFresh China deal

Online fresh produce trading platform eFresh.com has announced that it has tied up a deal with the Chinese government in Zhangzhou, in Fujian province, in a bid to boost the region's global trade.

The government has signed a 2 year deal covering gold membership contracts for 200 producers, representing the first time that the country's government has sponsored foreign internet services to promote agricultural imports.

'This contract is a real breakthrough for us on the Chinese market and a recognition that eFresh.com is the most suitable platform for their international trade,' said Hans Robben, CEO at eFresh.com. 'The fact that the government is willing to pay for the entire contract for 2 years shows how much confidence they have in eFresh.com.'

The Chinese government said that it was convinced that producer exposure on eFresh.com would maximise opportunities to raise awareness in potential buyers across the world.

'On eFresh.com producers from our region can have direct contact with buyers around the world and the other way around, volume buyers can find directly what they need,' said Yao Quan Wang, mayor of Zhangzhou. 'eFresh.com is the missing link between international buyers and our producers here.'

Mr Robben added that he had been impressed with the progress that China had made in terms of quality and certification.

'On eFresh.com, we make this market visible and transparent for buyers,' he said. 'There are enormous opportunities for local producers and international buyers, who can now easily find and trade with each other oneFresh.com.'
