An official at the Pakistan Horticultural Development and Export Company has revealed this week that the country has reached its kinnow export target of 300,000 tonnes for the 2010/11 campaign.

Speaking to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the official noted that the fruit was being exported readily to all traditional destinations, with the Philippines and Kuwait in particular emerging as new markets for the citrus variety.

The campaign started in early November last year, and will culminate in a few weeks, the official said, with the kinnow segment part of what is the sixth-largest citrus producing and exporting country in the world.

The official told the APP that the Federal Bureau of Statistics would announce final figures for the campaign, with kinnow exports possibly rising above the 300,000-tonne mark.
