Dirk Winkelmann, Vanguard's new chief business development officer

Vanguard International Group has announced the appointment of Dirk Winkelmann as chief business development officer.

Winkelmann, former director of Nathel International, will work closely with Vanguard’s senior leadership team on acquisitions, mergers, integration and global procurement.

“I look forward to working with the Vanguard team to build a leading, globally competitive, vertically-integrated fresh fruit and vegetable business, from farm to customer, focusing on acquisitions and integration,” stated Winkelmann.

The appointment marks a return to Vanguard for Winkelmann, who has 28 years’ industry experience and helped build the company’s offshore procurement business between 1994 and 2006.

“Dirk is uniquely qualified and all of us at Vanguard welcome him back with great enthusiasm,” the company’s CEO Craig Stauffer said in a release.

Guy Kisling, Vanguard’s chief financial office and chief analytics officer, added:

“Dirk is a well known and respected authority in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry. He is uniquely qualified in the areas of supply development, acquisitions and integration, and he brings an exceptional level of talent to our team.

“The fact that Dirk and I previously worked together for a almost a decade makes his integration with our team seamless and we can really hit the ground running. I am very happy he’s back.”
