Michael 'Snow' Hardy

Freshmax Group has announced the appointment of former Enza and Delica executive Snow Hardy to the new role of general manager – global pipfruit.

Based in Auckland, Hardy will head up the global apple and pear operations for Freshmax Group when he joins the company towards the end of April, consolidating its exports from Australia and New Zealand.

Hardy, who has served most recently as general manager of New Zealand pipfruit giant Enza, brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and industry contacts to the role. He will work to further develop Freshmax's collection of proprietary varieties, including Kanzi and Crimson Snow apples and Angely's pears.

“The Freshmax Group will be continuing the search for other exciting intellectual (IP) varieties to add to its vibrant portfolio,” said Freshmax Group CEO Tony Mahoney.

The new pipfruit trading operation is expected to bolster the global growth of the Freshmax Group, which has also established a North American operation called Prime Harvest, based in California.

David Smith, chairman of Freshmax, cited “international growth in our Pacific Rim” as the new frontier for Freshmax to be developed over the next three years.

“The group will focus on major Asian markets,' he said. 'China and India in particular look positive for further investment in infrastructure.”
