Asda has announced that it has followed through with plans to lower 12,500 prices on items across its stores for Easter, part of its drive to aid customers in the UK during the current economic downturn.
Cuts have occurred across a variety of categories, the group said, including fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat, drinks, alcohol, clothing, toys and electronics.
As part of the offer, customers can pick up packs of fresh produce in a '2 for £1' deal, including products such as potatoes, white cabbage, parsnips and broccoli.
Also on offer are a range of chilled fruits under a '2 for £' offer, including ready-to-eat plums, blackberries, black grapes, mixed grapes, green grapes and strawberries.
Meanwhile, Florette salad bags have been rolled back to £1 as part of the price cuts.
'We promised earlier this year to slash the price of Easter, and that's exactly what we've done,' said group chief executive officer Andy Bond. 'Prices have tumbled across the entire store. The sheer scale of our price cuts mean that no matter what you want to eat, do or wear over Easter, you can be guaranteed to get everything under one roof here at Asda, for less than anywhere else.'
