Production grew to 265,000 tonnes in 2025/26, thanks to improved growing techniques and favourable weather conditions

Chile’s Hass avocado boom continues. The 2025/26 crop weighed in at 265,000 tonnes according to the latest data from Avocados From Chile, well above the 255,000 tonnes forecast at the outset of the season.
It said the increase was due to favourable weather conditions, improved agronomic practices, and greater adoption of technology in the fields.
Exports for 2025/26 totalled 160,500 tonnes, equivalent to 61 per cent of the crop. Europe consolidated its position as the main export destination with shipments of 99,011 tonnes, followed by Latin America (41,404 tonnes), Asia (16,027 tonnes), and North America (4,028 tonnes). The domestic market absorbed approximately 104,500 tonnes, reaffirming the importance of national consumption within the Chilean sector.
Francisco Contardo, CEO of Avocados From Chile, commented: “This is very good news for the industry, because it confirms that the sector has managed to consolidate a significant volume, even with less cultivated land. Therefore, this result speaks to a sector that has been able to adapt, incorporate technology, and improve its management practices to produce more and better”.
Chilean avocados are currently exported to approximately 40 markets worldwide.
“Our avocados are renowned for their quality, flavour, traceability, and high agricultural practices,” Contardo said. “This positioning has allowed us to maintain a strong presence in demanding markets like Europe, continue growing in Latin America, and explore new opportunities in destinations where Chilean avocados are increasingly valued.”
