New variety Mojito Fresh will be available in select stores from early next week

UK retailer Co-op is introducing Mojito-flavoured grapes just in time for the summer heatwave. From next week, the new variety, Mojito Fresh, will be available in select stores as part of the store’s Irresistible Limited-Edition range for a three-week period.

Kate Byrne-Fletcher, Co-op’s head of fresh produce, said: “This new variety is a must-try for mojito cocktail fans, and we’re thrilled to be adding it into our fresh fruit aisle for our members and customers to enjoy as a healthy snack or freezing and adding to summery drinks. We’re expecting this new variety to fly off the shelves and will only be in stores for just a few weeks due to the limited seasonal window”.

Developed by Boom Fresh, the Mojito Fresh variety was launched in Spain last year. It is described as having a unique flavour profile that combines a hint of lime with spearmint notes with a mix of Moscatel and labrusca.

According to Bloom, Mojito Fresh was considered an outlier due to its unique herbaceous and minty flavour. But Spanish grower-marketer Uvasdoce spotted an opportunity to market a new variety offering a refreshing twist on the traditional table grape.

The variety’s Mojito-like flavour was the inspiration for the creation of a new collection of grapes aimed at young adults and adults seeking a healthy, permissive treat entitled the Fresh Mocktail Collection.
