Company says its paper-based NFC label makes temperature registration during transport more sustainable and affordable

Logistics insight specialist Coldcha has announced it is expanding its platform with a new paper-based NFC temperature label that makes temperature registration during transport ”simpler, more sustainable, and more affordable”.

According to Coldcha, the solution has been developed for growers and producers in the fresh produce sector, food companies, and shippers of flowers and plants who are seeking a low-cost alternative to real-time monitoring.

The ultra-thin, flexible paper label can be easily affixed to any shipment, it said.

”The usage is straightforward: the sender activates temperature registration by holding an iPhone or Android telephone with the partner application against the label,” the company explained.

”Upon arrival, the recipient scans the label again, whereupon the temperature data is immediately visible on the mobile telephone and automatically shared with Coldcha’s cloud platform.

”This solution offers complete supply chain monitoring without complex hardware or expensive systems, ensuring transparency and safety in temperature-sensitive logistics,” Coldcha outlined.

The company also highlighted its reusable NFC tag, which it said was fully compliant with airfreight requirements.

The tag minimises electronic waste and has a long lifespan of more than one year, contributing to sustainability initiatives in the sector, it said.

”Designed for reuse, the tag can be easily redeployed for subsequent shipments, allowing users to benefit from both environmental friendliness and cost efficiency,” Coldcha noted.

Offering precise temperature monitoring with a deviation of only ±0.5°C, the tag is described as lightweight and flexible, making it suitable for virtually any packaging.
