Agrícola San Clemente has become the first producer to supply Chilean-grown Envy apples to the domestic market.
The variety was officially launched at Lider Walmart stores at a special event last week attended by San Clemente’s president Luis Chadwick and the New Zealand ambassador to Chile, Jacqui Caine.
Chile is the only country in Latin America that currently grows the popular New Zealand variety and San Clemente is the exclusive license holder of both Envy and Jazz apples.
Demand for Envy, the super-sweet Braeburn-Royal Gala cross, has been rising and the brand is now firmly entrenched in markets across the globe due to its high quality and a well orchestrated marketing campaign.
Both Envy and Jazz have their roots in Braeburn and Royal Gala. Envy has a larger size profile and takes on more of the sweetness characteristics of Royal Gala. Jazz produces slightly smaller fruit and balances both the tangy Braeburn and sweet Royal Gala flavour notes.
