Freskon, the tenth international trade event for fruits and vegetables organised by TIF-Helexpo, returns to Thessaloniki on 23-25 April, welcoming 230 exhibitors from ten countries, and featuring a buyers programme for importers and retailers from 30 countries.

The exhibition’s strong Balkan presence remains, illustrated by organised delegations of 50 trade visitors from Bulgaria and 100 from North Macedonia, but its international flavour continues to grow this year with the participation of a significant business delegation from the central market of Madrid.

Parallel events include the second International Cherry Conference, two specialised workshops (on the latest trends in berries and on industrial clingstone peaches), talks on the digital future of fresh produce and a discussion on the best solutions to the demanding conditions currently seen in transportation and storage.

“This year’s programme of parallel events has been designed to cover every aspect of the production and supply chain,” said Roula Katsamaka of TIF-Helexpo. “At the heart of commercial interest is the FreshCon Market section, an initiative carried out in collaboration with the magazine Froutonea, bringing producers together with representatives of organised retail. With the participation of 16 retail chains from Greece and abroad, mainly from the Balkans, producers gain direct access to the shelves of major food distribution networks.”

Panagiotis Orfanos, publisher of Froutonea, said this year’s edition of Freskon was especially important due to the creation of a Panhellenic Association of Fruit and Vegetable Packing Houses, set to be announced during the event.
