Leading berry supplier Hortifrut has appointed Saskia Polak as its new commercial director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Effective 1 November, the appointment represents a key development for the Chilean-owned business in Europe. Along with Asia, Europe is an important region for the company and one in which it sees strong opportunities for future growth.

“The berry category is exciting, growing, and offers great potential for the future,” Polak commented. “Looking forward to be part of an exceptional company with a genuine mission.”

Polakd was previously product and account manager for Dole Europe BV, formerly Total Produce BV, based in Bleiswijk in the Netherlands.

In 2009, Total Produce merged with Vevici Fruit – the company known previously as Citronas – where she began working on Southern Hemisphere fruit import programmes in November 2000.
