Landa, the venture capital fund managed by Bankinter Investment and Nuveen, has completed the acquisition of a new 250ha citrus farm in the Spanish province of Huelva.

As reported by Forbes, this transaction represents the fund’s second investment in citrus cultivation, following the purchase of another farm in the same province earlier this year.

With this second acquisition, Landa now has nearly 300ha of citrus production. Both properties include an investment plan focused on revitalising the plantations and incorporating state-of-the-art technology, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and long-term production quality.

According to Landa, the farms will be managed through agreements with agricultural operators.

In addition to its citrus investments, Landa acquired two avocado and mango farms in the province of Granada last year, following previous investments in almond orchards in the province of Cáceres and horticultural production in the province of Albacete. These five transactions bring the total of its land holdings to 1,100ha.

The venture capital fund said it would continue to analyse potential acquisitions, maintaining the provinces of Huelva, Valencia, and Castellón as priority areas for this phase of citrus investment. In total, it has raised €138mn for investment in agricultural land in Spain and Portugal.
