In the US, limited-edition, red, white and blue packaging will be available from June to mid-July for Sunset Flavor Bombs tomatoes, sourced from Mastronardi greenhouses in Iowa, Michigan, Kentucky and New York.

The US celebrates its 250th anniversary this year and Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of Mastronardi Produce, saw it as the ideal occasion for the new look.

“We’re proud to showcase the new Flavor Bombs packaging on the tomatoes from four influential states in the US’s produce industry, and America’s 250th felt like the right moment to put that on the package,” he said. “These are American-grown tomatoes from our US greenhouses that deserve to be celebrated.”

Flavor Bombs are the signature product of the Sunset Bombs portfolio, the company stated – tomatoes that “live up to their name with an explosion of sweet, rich, intense flavour in every bite”.

Produced in controlled environment greenhouses all year round, these on-the-vine cherry tomatoes are popular for snacking, entertaining and everyday cooking, according to Mastronardi.

“The America 250 limited edition is the latest chapter for the Sunset Bombs tomato range, which has built a loyal following among snacking tomato fans since its launch,” the company said. “This summer, the packaging puts the US-grown story front and centre, giving retailers and shoppers a fresh reason to reach for Flavor Bombs during the country’s biggest celebration.”
