Shipments are projected to exceed US$10bn this year according to Midagri
Peru is set to overtake Chile to become the biggest fruit exporter in Latin America in 2025. According to Peru’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, the country will export more than US$10bn of fruit this year, putting it among the top five fruit exporters globally. The rise is mainly driven by increased shipments of avocados, blueberries and grapes.
Between 2010 and 2024, shipments have been increasing by an average of 19.6 per cent every year. Based on this trajectory, by 2027 exports could reach US$11.064bn. Midagri said this would consolidate Peru’s position as a leading player in world agriculture.
Peruvian fruit exports were valued at just over US$6bn in 2024. According to Odepa fruit bulletin, Chilean fruit exports were valued at US$7.39bn FOB in 2024/25, an increase of 1.3 per cent on the previous year.
