Shipments grew 42 per cent in the 2024/25 season
Spanish custard apple exports grew 42 per cent in 2024/25 according to figures released by the Centre For Technical Assistance and Inspection of Foreign Trade (Soivre).
As reported by EFE, more than 1,700 tonnes of the fruit – grown exclusively in southern Spain on the coast of Granada and Malaga – was exported to the European Union last season, up from 1,200 tonnes in the previous campaign.
The main markets were Portugal, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands.
More than 90 per cent of production in southern Spain is made up of the Fino de Jete variety. The latest official data shows that there are around 3,041ha of production, a figure that has remained broadly stable over the last five years.
