Shipments up 7.1 per cent in volume to week 20 and projected to grow 3.16 per cent in the whole year

Peruvian Hass avocado exports are projected to reach 33,733 containers, equivalent to 745,650 tonnes in 2026, representing a 3.16 per cent increase compared to the 32,00 containers (722,754 tonnes) shipped last year, according to industry body Prohass.

Figures from the association show that from the beginning of the year through week 20, shipments were up 7.91 per cent on the year-earlier period. Shipments from week 21 to the year-end are projected to grow 0.89 per cent compared to the same period of 2025. Around one-third of Peru’s total export volume is estimated to have already been shipped to week 20.

From the beginning of the year through week 20, Europe was the main destination, accounting for 69.2 per cent of the total volume. This was followed by Asia with 15.5 per cent, Chile with 9.9 per cent, other countries in the Americas with 3.8 per cent, the US with 1.6 per cent.

According to Prohass, shipments to the US are expected to decrease by 13.65 per cent to 4,143 containers (compared with 4,798 containers in 2025). Shipments to Europe, meanwhile, are forecast to grow 6.21 per cent to 21,543 containers, up from 20,284 containers in 2025.

Full-year exports to Chile are forecast to reach 2,835 containers, representing an increase of 3.47 per cent on last year. Shipments to Asia are expected to reach 4,162 containers, representing a 13.75 per cent increase on the 3,659 containers shipped in 2025.

Shipments to other countries in the Americas are on course to hit 1,051 containers for the full year, down from 1,218 containers in 2025.
