Aid will be given as a single payment of €6,000 for each hectare of land being replanted

The regional government of Valencia has given the green light to an aid package of €26.7mn to boost the recovery of farms affected by 2024’s Dana.
The aim is to restore the productive capacity of the farms that suffered the worst damage, with aid given as a single payment of €6,000 for each hectare being replanted, regardless of the crop.
This allows growers to change crop if they deem it appropriate, while also bringing back into use plots that were rendered unusable after the storm.
The decree stipulates that the subsidies will be granted through a direct award system, for reasons of economic, social, and humanitarian interest, given the extraordinary circumstances generated by this weather event.
Applications can be submitted from this week and will remain open for two months. According to the decree, successful applicants will have a maximum of one year to replant their fields. Miguel Barrachina, Valencia’s agriculture minister, said the aim was to ensure “that not a single field is lost in the Valencian Community”.
