Aldi says its Live Healthy products meet strict nutritional criteria

Aldi has launched a new ‘Live Healthy’ logo to help shoppers make healthier food choices.

From 20 October, the emblem will roll out across selected own-label products – including fresh produce, soups and yogurts – to highlight items that contribute to a healthy, balanced diet as defined by the UK’s Eatwell Guide.

Every product bearing the logo meets “strict nutritional criteria”, says Aldi, with the aim of giving shoppers extra confidence when choosing what goes in their baskets.

The launch comes after the Government announced the framework for its 10-year health strategy in July, with Aldi saying it is committed to a number of actions to help shoppers make healthier choices.

To help measure its progress, the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket is aiming for healthy products to account for 85 per cent of its sales by 2027. The retailer also wants to increase the number of portions of fruit and veg it sells by 14 per cent by the end of 2027.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, our mission has always been to make a variety of healthy food affordable for all.

“We know our customers want affordable, healthier options that fit into their everyday lives. The ‘Live Healthy’ logo is a simple, trustworthy signpost to help them do just that – without compromising on price or taste.”

Other Aldi initiatives that encourage a nutritious diet include its Super 6 offers on fresh fruit and vegetables, and its Get Set To Eat Fresh programme, in partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB. This helps children aged 5-14 develop the skills they need to cook nutritious, affordable meals.
