Organic produce and opportunities to boost exports from Spain to the UK will be focus of free event in London

Importers and other interested fresh produce professionals have until Monday 23 February to register for the third edition of the Spain Food Nation Summit, which explores opportunities to strengthen trade ties between the UK and Spain.
Organic produce is the focus of this year’s event, which aims to bring high-quality Spanish fruit and veg closer to the British consumer.
The 2026 summit, which is free to attend, is being held at London’s Mare Street Market at King’s Cross on 24 February. It will feature a series of presentations, discussions and networking opportunities based around the theme of Spanish organic products.
It is being run by promotional body Foods and Wines from Spain as a joint initiative in partnership with ICEX Spain Trade & Investment and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food.
“The Spain Food Nation Summit has established itself as an important annual event in strengthening ties between the Spanish and UK industries,” said Fernando Muñoz, director of Foods and Wines from Spain.
“Spain is a leader in organic produce, and it is a category with significant potential for further growth in the UK. We look forward to showcasing why buyers and consumers should be looking for Spanish product and exploring how the market can be expanded to the benefit of all.”
The Spain Food Nation Summit was first launched in 2023 as a celebration of quality Spanish fresh produce, wine and gourmet foods, and has since evolved as an annual event that dissects key issues and themes around UK-Spanish trade with a view to strengthening relationships.
Spain is a vital supplier to the UK market and is the largest non-domestic source of fruit and veg for the country’s retail, foodservice and wholesale sectors. Similarly, the UK is Spain’s biggest non-EU export destination, underlining the importance of trade between the two countries. Spain is also the largest producer of organic products in the EU with nearly 3mn ha under organic management, according to the Spanish government, giving it economies of scale the UK cannot currently match.
The Spain Food Nation Summit 2026 will kick off with an address by Gonzalo Garcia, the economic and commercial counsellor of the Spanish Embassy in London. That will be followed by the presentation of headline findings from an IWSR study examining the opportunities for Spanish organic wine and food products in the UK market, leading into a roundtable discussion of the topic with key stakeholders.
At the 2025 event, advisory councils were set up to bring together leading figures from across major categories to address routes to market and barriers facing Spanish products entering the UK, and in 2026 Red Communications has been commissioned to continue this concept with an organic fresh produce council. Topline findings will be presented and discussed at the summit, moderated by Fruitnet as media partner.
The summit will be immediately followed by a unique Taste Spain event, which will spotlight a selection of Spanish food and wine producers. Attendees will be able to sample fine Spanish cheese, cured meat, olive oil, vinegar, wine, cider and more.
