Carrier Transicold has launched a new upgrade service for its PrimeLine refrigerated units, as it bids to help users reduce their input and maintenance costs.

The Reefer Enhancement and Next-life (REN) Program, which forms part of Carrier’s Transform Line, offers a range of upgrades that can apparently add up to three years’ service life on units aged between six and ten years old.

Those upgrades include high-efficiency Edge compressors, optimised coils, and refrigerant retrofit kits.

The group said customers would also be able to add a subscription to its trademarked telematics solution Lynx Fleet, which provides allows users to monitor the condition of equipment and better plan any required maintenance.

The aim, according to senior director Pablo Martinez, is to deliver significant fuel and maintenance savings, improve energy efficiency, and support compliance with evolving environmental regulations such as the EU Emissions Trading System.

“As the shipping and maritime industry accelerates its transition to lower carbon operations, companies are seeking solutions that maximise the value of existing assets while minimising environmental impact,” he said.

“Our Reefer Enhancement and Next-life Program enables shipping lines and leasing companies to easily enhance the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of their current fleets. With Carrier Transicold’s extensive installed base of approximately one million reefers, we anticipate the REN Program will deliver substantial operational and environmental benefits across the industry.”
