IMG Citrus has announced its new flagship facility, Sweet Sixty, has completed upgrades and is fully operational for the 2025/26 Florida citrus season.

The grower-importer-packer first acquired the 185,000ft2 cold storage and packing facility in 2022 from J&J Fresh Produce. Given its strategic location, minutes from both I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, and a few hours north of the Port of Miami, IMG Citrus said the acquisition of Sweet Sixty was always intended to be more than just additional square footage

“When we purchased Sweet Sixty, we envisioned a space that could grow with us, supporting both our Florida roots and our ever-expanding citrus import programme,” said Sydney Allison, director of sales. “Today, that vision is a reality. We’ve brought everything under one roof, our people, our packing lines, and our purpose.”

Prior to the consolidation, IMG Citrus had been operating out of both its Gifford packhouse and the new Sweet Sixty facility. This dual operation ensured supply continuity while upgrades and equipment integrations were completed at Sweet Sixty.

Now, with all packing and distribution under one roof, Sweet Sixty will act as IMG’s flagship facility strengthening its supply chain efficiency and positioning the company for continued expansion in year-round citrus supply.

In total, IMG Citrus invested over US$3mn in upgrades to the Sweet Sixty facility. Notable additions include the relocation and enhanced MAF grading lines and MAF Compact electronic sizers, designed for high-speed, high-precision fruit sorting. There is also a brand-new organic line to meet growing demand from consumers and retail partners and the integration of a fresh mesh combo bagging line, offering a 320 per cent increase in packing speed. A high-pressure stainless steel bin washer from California also ensures superior sanitation and reduced water usage.

The completion of Sweet Sixty’s transition follows IMG Citrus’s most successful summer citrus season to date. According to the company, import volumes reached new highs, thanks to strong partnerships with global grower collaborators and heightened satisfaction among retail customers. It also continued to expand its lime programme, offering an increasingly diverse citrus portfolio and delivering on its promise of “the best of every season.”

With more than 3,000 pallet positions, 20 dock doors, and ample space for future growth, Sweet Sixty is built to scale alongside IMG Citrus’s evolving operations.
