Canadian marketer secures International Taste Institute recognition across tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and blueberries

Leading North American supplier Mastronardi Produce has won an apparently unprecedented seven Superior Taste Awards for a whole basket of its branded fresh fruit and vegetable products.
Organised by the International Taste Institute, products entered for consideration are assessed for appearance, aroma, flavour, and texture by a panel of over 250 professional chefs and sommeliers from more than 20 countries.
In this year’s awards round, the Canadian marketer scooped prizes for the following trademarked products:
- Campari cocktail tomatoes
- Angel Sweet tomatoes
- Wow Dreamberry strawberries
- Pop Its bite-sized cucumbers
- Tomato Branch on-the-vine tomatoes
- Flavor Bombs on-the-vine tomatoes
- Sunset Wow Joyberry blueberries
“Flavour is the standard we measure ourselves by, and earning recognitions across tomatoes, cucumbers, and berries speaks to the work happening across our greenhouses every day,” commented Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of Mastronardi Produce. “We’re proud of what the team has built, and we’re not done yet.”
This year’s results mark a continued run of recognition for Sunset-branded products.
It was the sixth award for Campari cocktail tomatoes, following previous consecutive wins in 2024 and 2025.
Angel Sweet tomatoes earned their fifth consecutive award, bringing their total to seven, while Wow Dreamberry strawberries were recognised for the fifth time and the third consecutive year.
Pop Its bite-sized cucumbers and Tomato Branch were winners for the first time following their recent market debuts.
