Fruit breeder Sun World International has selected new licensees for its proprietary grape varieties in Australia and Italy, as it continues to strengthen its branded fruit programmes across the world.

The new licensees will be able to market trademarked varieties including AutumnCrisp and Ruby Rush, which generate a premium based on consistency of supply and seasonal availability.

“Successful fruit programmes rely on strong connections – the right partners, in the right markets, growing the right fruit, with a demonstrated focus on excellence – raises the bar for everyone,” said Petri van der Merwe, vice-president of global licensing at Sun World.

“We’re intentional about how we select our partners. We look for those who share our high standards and can connect our brands with consumers to deliver the intended experience.”

The new licensees are TGC Marketing, Romeo’s Best, and Ace Quality Produce in Australia, as well as Bio Hortus in Italy.

TGC Marketing, which was formed through a partnership between the Primarano and Marciano families, operates more than 800 acres in Victoria’s Sunraysia region and sells fruit under its Prima Farms and Yummy Grapes brands.

Romeo’s Best, meanwhile, is one of Australia’s largest privately owned table grape producers, with more than 1,200ha along the country’s east coast.

And Ace Quality Produce, which reportedly has a growing footprint in sourcing and distribution, operates a broad supply network across a number of channels.

Based in Agrigento, in the south of Sicily, Bio Hortus manages more than 1,500ha of production, including 400ha in greenhouses.

Gerardo Lugo, Sun World’s chief commercial officer, said the new additions would bolster the group’s international footprint.

“Our strength comes from the connections we build across geographies, growing conditions and channels. When you combine that diversity with an uncompromising focus on quality, you create programmes that retailers trust, and consumers come back to,” he said.

“These licensees will give us exactly that. They bring the experience, infrastructure, and commitment that will continue to set Sun World apart.”
