Boerne, Texas-based Progreso Produce has entered into an exclusive marketing deal with Growers Alliance Corporation of Vista, California to market a range of fresh produce, including mangoes and onions from Central and South America.

The agreement expands Progreso’s current year-round mango and onion programmes and adds additional product volume. The company’s mango marketing season kicks off in December with Peruvian product and will also include mangoes from Brazil and Ecuador during their respective growing seasons. Imported volumes will compliment Progreso’s existing mango programme which includes a branding deal with Imagination Farms that features Disney Garden and the popular High School Musical franchise.

Onion imports are due to get underway in October with onions from Peru and Ecuador. Other products available through the new partnership include avocados, asparagus, strawberries, ginger and bananas.

Growers Alliance, although a newly formed organisation, brings with it years of experience through its principals Will Cavan and Stephen Stamps. Mr cava is a 24-year veteran of the industry and most recently served as executive director of the International Mango Organisation. Mr Stamps has spent his career in international business for a variety of industries and brings to the business a strong financial background, Progreso said.

“The synergy of this new partnership brings together multiple resources for quality products, strong business contacts, working capital and marketing opportunities that will help both of our companies grow,” said Curtis Deberry, president of Progreso Produce.
