Salmonella dish

Ippolito International, a California-based grower/shipper, has revealed that it has recalled 1,715 cartons of spinach amid fears that they may be contaminated with salmonella.

The group issued the recall following testing by the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Microbial Data Programme, which detected the presence of salmonella.

The produce was distributed across 12 US states, including California, Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York, as well as in Ontario, Manitoa and British Columbia in Canada.

No illnesses have been reported from any of the spinach batches, the group said in a statement.
