June Choi

June Choi will start a new role with Korean fresh produce importer Sooil Commerce on Monday following his recent departure from Jinwon Trading.

Mr Choi spent almost five years at Jinwon Trading, where he was in charge of the trading department sourcing fresh fruit from global suppliers including Sunkist, Pom Wonderful, Rio Blanco and Primavera Marketing. He also managed Jinwon’s business with Costco Korea and with certain wholesalers.

Jinwon has emerged rapidly in recent years to become Korea’s leading fresh fruit importer. When Mr Choi joined Jinwon in 2006, its annual sales stood at around US$30m, but by last year that figure had grown to some US$120m, according to the company.

Mr Choi will play a similar trading and sales role with Sooil Commerce, which is another leading player in Korean produce imports and a partner to top suppliers including Sunkist and Zespri.
