Leading logistics provider Damco has announced the appointment of Thomas Knudsen as regional head of its Asian business.Knudsen most recently served as the Asia Pacific Regional CEO for shippng giant Maersk Line, and brings with him over 20 years of experience within the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.
“I am very excited to be joining Damco, and look forward to working with the strong team we have in Asia,” Knudsen said. “Together, we will be focusing on supporting Damco’s growth ambitions to reinforce our customer focus and become a profitable organisation, delivering innovative, sustainable and cost-efficient logistics solutions to help our customers win.”
Knudsen will be based in Singapore, reporting directly to Damco’s CEO Hanne Sorensen. Damco’s Asian business includes the North Asia, South East Asia and Oceania regions, with Knudsen taking the helm on 1 July.
“The diversity of markets and customer needs in Asia create vast opportunities for Damco to partner with stakeholders in terms of supply chain management and freight forwarding,” Knudsen explained. “For example we anticipate growth of sourcing activities in Southeast Asia with the increased shift of manufacturing out of China, and regional free trade agreements are also opening up new, exciting opportunities for logistics players like us.”
