Walmart has announced the appointment of Murali Lanka as chief operations officer of its India stores.
The industry veteran will relocate from his position as developmental regional general manager in the US, reporting to Walmart India chief executive Krish Iyer from 1 December, according to Reuters.
Lanka previously helped Walmart develop its cash and carry wholesale stores in India, which operate under the Best Price brand.
Walmart operates 20 wholesale stores across India, with plans to open 50 more over the coming five years.
