Chinese online retail giant Alibaba has plans to launch 11 country ‘pavilions’ on its Tmall Global site, adding to the already established South Korea pavilion set up in May.

As well as boosting cross-border e-commerce trade by selling imported produce from each country, the pavilions will also offer cultural and travel information.

The US, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Malaysia, Britain, Spain, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and France are in the process of building their own country pavilion sites, according to the Alibaba-funded news site Alizila.

Alibaba has also partnered with the embassies of 26 countries through its Juhuasuan site to promote each country’s products.
