Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL) has announced the departure of industry services manager Annie Farrow.
Since joining APAL in 2009, Farrow has made numerous submissions to government across a range of issues, including country of origin labelling, market access and biosecurity.
She also ran the Watts in Your Business Program that funded energy audits across a number of Australian packing sheds and has resulted in many companies adopting more energy-efficient and money-saving practices.
“Annie was also passionate about further education and professional development within the industry and gained funding for and oversaw the New Horizon’s scholarship and Emerging Leaders program with Marcus Oldham College as well as APAL’s support for a Nuffield scholarship,” said APAL chief executive John Dollisson.
APAL is going through a restructure that will see a range of the peak industry body’s advocacy and lobbying work shift to the Voice of Horticulture in Canberra.
Biosecurity matters for the apple and pear industry will be managed by APAL’s technical manager Angus Crawford and market access will be managed by APAL’s market development manager Olivia Tait.
“We wish Annie all the best on her future endeavours and thank her for her contributions to APAL and the wider industry,” said Dollisson.
