Pakistan's Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF) is developing a database of companies that have reefer containers and are interested in transporting kinnows by road to Iran.

The move comes after Iran last week relaxed a ban on the importation of Pakistan kinnows following a disagreement over shipping procedures.

The dispute arose when Iranian authorities insisted all kinnow imports be shipped in refrigerated containers.

The ASF asked that all transport companies interested in the project provide details such as its company profile and contact details, number of reefer containers and trucks available, and number of trailers available.

Kinnow growers expect to have around 30,000 tonnes of fruit available to be transported to Iran by road, and the Pakistan government is also planning to manufacture refrigerated railway containers, the country's Daily Times reported.
