CMA CGM has announced the launch of a new service on the Asia to India/Pakistan trade to keep pace with growing demand for shipping cargoes between two of the world’s engines of economic growth, China and India.

The New CIMEX 2 service, launched on 13 June, links Asia/China to India and Pakistan on the following port rotation: Kwangyang – Busan – Shanghai – Hong Kong – Da Chan Bay – Tanjung Pelepas – Colombo – Pipavav – Nhava Sheva – Port Qasim – Port Klang – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Hong Kong – Kwangyang.

CMA CGM, which is operating the New Cimex 2 in partnership with Maersk Line, says the service offers the fastest transit times on the market (at 15 days between Shanghai and Pipavav) as well as the most reliable and modern fleet on this trade, with six vessels offering a combined capacity of 5,500 TEUs.

With its large port coverage, the New Cimex 2 also offers balanced eastbound/westbound connections covering the Asia/Indian subcontinent/Asia trades.

“The Asia to India/Pakistan trade – linking the two economies with the highest populations in the world – is currently expanding,” said Ludovic Rozan, vice-president of CMA CGM Asia. “The trend is likely to continue and we therefore decided to develop the New CIMEX 2 to keep pace with our customers’ needs and support the development of their activities on these markets.”

The new service will also compliment CMA CGM Group’s coverage on the Asia, Middle East, Gulf and India markets.
