Logistics provider Damco has announced it will build a new US$4m integrated logistics centre in Vietnam as part of a drive to increase business in the South East Asian nation.

The 26,000m2 warehouse will be built at Binh Duong, 25km north of Ho Chi Minh City, adding to Damco’s nine existing sites in Vietnam.

“Vietnam is a key market for Damco and we will continue to invest in infrastructure, technology and people to support the increasing demands from our customers here,” said Tony Hotine, chief executive of Damco, Asia Pacific.

“We have taken active roles to support the advancement of the domestic logistics industry by working with private and government sectors to improve supply chain efficiency in Vietnam.

“By integrating warehousing services with our extensive network and capabilities, customers are able to increase efficiency and agility in their supply chains. We are well-positioned to increase our market share in Vietnam.”

The new facility will serve the Cat Lai and Cai Mep ports, and will be connected to road and barge transport. It is expected to be ready by April 2011.
