Lufthansa Cargo

Lufthansa Cargo has announced that it returned 'excellent figures' for fiscal 2010, with sales climbing 19.9 per cent to 8.9bn revenue cargo tonne-kilometres, and the volume of cargo and mail transported climbing by 18.2 per cent to 1.79m tonnes.

Freight and mail tonnage increased appreciably across all traffic regions, the group noted, particularly in the Americas where tonnage climbed 24.9 per cent, and Asia/Pacific with growth of 20.6 per cent.

During the year, Lufthansa Cargo raised capacity by 7.6 per cent, attributable to new aircraft joining the fleet and the integration of the cargo capacities of Austrian airlines.

'After the 2009 crisis year, Lufthansa Cargo has come back with outstanding results on the back of an impressive team performance,' said Karl Ulrich Garnadt, chairman and CEO of Lufthansa Cargo. 'We are taking that momentum into 2011 in order to make the most of growth opportunities in the international airfreight industry.'
