Netherlands-based certification group MPS has announced that Yolande van den Boom is to succeed current chief executive Theo de Groot, who will retire in mid-July.

Van den Boom was born in Rotterdam and is highly involved in themes like CSR and sustainability, while also having extensive knowledge of food security and certification in that area.

'I am very happy to join MPS,' she said. 'With my background, my years of experience as a commercial quality and operations director, my knowledge of change management and innovation, as well as my passion for sustainability, I hope to be able to strenghten the leading market position of MPS. All the pieces of the puzzle fall into place for me.'

De Groot has been in charge of MPS for more than 21 years. Under his leadership the sustainability certificate for growers, MPS-ABC, has successfully been turned into one of the world's leading sustainability certificates. Nowadays MPS-ABC certificate is adapted in more than 45 countries.
