UGPBAN

Philippe Ruelle, managing director of UGPBAN, the union of banana grower associations of Martinique and Guadeloupe, has announced that the union has taken over the management of the Muri Tours ripening facility in central France.

The aim is to consolidate the position of French West Indian bananas nationally, according to UGPBAN.

Using this facility, which boasts a capacity of some 7,000 tonnes a year, Mr Ruelle said that UGPBAN would be able to offer a regular and reliable service of French West Indian bananas to the large central region of France.

Coming just over two years after UGPBAN’s acquisition of Fruidor’s banana ripening facilities, this latest move completes a strategic operation to develop the sale and marketing of French West Indian bananas on the French market.
