German discount retail operator Rewe has revealed plans to offer a larger range of fresh fruits and vegetables through its new-concept Penny Market Ambiente stores in Italy.
The outlets will offer the same range of grocery products as the company's Penny Market banner, but will stock a greater number of fresh produce lines.
The company currently has three Penny Market Ambiente test stores, two of which are in Milan and one which is in Casalpusterlengo, just outside Milan.
According to Rewe, the new concept is aimed at creating a chain based on discounter principles but which has the look, feel and range of a traditional supermarket.
