The Elche-based company produces around 50,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables in Valencia, Murcia, and Castilla-La Mancha

Anecoop has announced the incorporation of its latest partner cooperative, Marfruit. Located in La Marina de Elche, Marfruit has 2,000ha of its own production spread across the Valencian Community, Murcia, and Castilla-La Mancha.
The deal will add an extra 50,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables to Anecoop’s offer, including almost 30,000 tonnes of melons. Marfruit produces a range of varieties such as Piel de Sapo, Amarillo, and Galia, and, starting this season, Cantaloupe. Broccoli, is another key crop for the cooperative, with annual production exceeding 6,000 tonnes.
Marfruit also produces around 5,000 tonnes of pomegranates annually, including the Mollar de Elche PDO variety, Wonderful and Bigful. Rounding out the company’s offering are artichokes, sweet potatoes, and butternut and Halloween squash.

He said the move would allow Marfruit to improve its efficiency, strengthen its foundation, grow, and become stronger and more competitive in the face of the demands of the global market in which it operates.
