Some 5,500 tonnes harvested across Italy, Greece, France, Spain and Portugal this season

The 2025/26 Dorì campaign has got off to a strong start according to kiwifruit marketer Dorì International.
The season got into full swing in Europe in the first week of October and European sales of the early, yellow-fleshed variety are expected to continue until February. Shipments from the Southern Hemisphere are currently being scheduled to meet customer demand during the spring and summer months.
“Dorì is the earliest yellow kiwifruit and, thanks to a marked advance compared with previous years, harvesting was completed in the last week of September,” said Giampaolo Dal Pane, president of Dorì International. “The harvested volumes were close to what had been forecast, namely 5,500 tonnes across Italy, which accounts for 80 per cent of the total, Greece, France, Spain and Portugal.”
“Sales are progressing steadily both in Europe and overseas,” commented Antonio Zani, managing director of Dorì International. “The Italian market in particular remains lively and continues to grow, increasing both the quantities sold and the number of customers, also supported by the fact that it can rely on a product of Italian origin.”
The Northern Hemisphere Dorì harvest can cover 4 to 5 months of the season, before production switches at the end of March to fruit from the Southern Hemisphere.
“Product of a larger size class (over 100g) always performs better, since it is perceived as ‘premium’ by the end consumer, who finds in Dorì yellow kiwifruit the right balance between sweetness, acidity and flavour,” Zani added.
