Spanish imports of fresh fruit and vegetables increased 2.6 per cent in volume during the first two months of 2026

Spanish imports of fresh fruit and vegetables grew by 2.6 per cent in volume during January-February 2026, when compared with the same months of the previous year.
Volume came in at 751,617 tonnes, while value remained stable (up 0.04 per cent) reaching €889mn, according to customs data processed by Fepex.
Fruit imports reached 339,653 tonnes, representing a 2.5 per cent increase compared to the 331,494 tonnes recorded during the opening two months of 2025.
Vegetable imports, meanwhile, came to 411,964 tonnes, with year-on-year growth of 2.8 per cent.
Banana imports stood out among fruits, reaching 71,370 tonnes (up 34.4 per cent), while onion imports saw growth among vegetables, reaching 33,757 tons (up 48.4 per cent).
By contrast, potato imports saw a notable decrease in volume, down 7 per cent to 238,954 tonnes, although Fepex highlighted that “they remain the most imported product in the entire category”.
In terms of value, Spanish imports reached €889.89mn in January-February 2026, similar to the €889.53mn registered last year.
The value of imported fruit increased by 3.2 per cent to €595.9mn, up from €577.25mn, while the value of imported vegetables decreased 5.9 per cent to €293.98mn.
