Unexpected higher demand for airfreight capacity prompts new partnership between national carrier and specialist cargo company

An earlier start to Egypt’s strawberry season has apparently prompted Egyptair to enlist help from airfreight company AirMaster in establishing additional services for perishable exports out of the country.
According to Cargo Forwarder Global, AirMaster began flying two planes between Cairo and Hahn in south-west Germany last week.
The bulk of shipments are reportedly bound for DHL Food Logistics and Tulpin Group, for onward delivery to supermarkets and wholesalers in Germany and the UK. Those customers include Rewe and Edeka.
This year’s Egyptian strawberry season is understood to have started around two weeks earlier than usual.
And with Egyptair using some of its own freighter fleet to service trade between China and Europe, that unexpected additional demand appears to have created the new opportunity for AirMaster.
