Fresh produce businesses or growers who can demonstrate carbon emission reduction, using new technology or inspiring others can now enter this year’s Farm Carbon Toolkit Carbon Farmer of the Year competition.

The competition, which seeks to identify and reward those who are reducing emissions on farms, is part of a mission to create a network of farmers working on carbon reduction.

To enter, companies can nominate themselves or another business, submit a short film or complete the entry form online.

Judges are looking for businesses that are either: implementing effective emissions reduction and mitigation practices; using new technologies that are appropriate and beneficial; or providing inspiration for others to successfully emulate.

“Showcasing the achievements of UK farmers, as they adopt farming practices to help reduce farm emissions and adapt to climate change,” said head of agriculture at bank and competition sponsor HSBC UK, Martin Hanson.

“The HSBC UK Agriculture team is committed to supporting our customers and the wider industry, as they adapt to the challenges of climate change and the opportunities of the transition,” he said.

Entries are open from Monday 9 March via the website until July, with winners announced at the Farm Carbon Toolkit annual field day in Autumn.
