Distribución y Servicio (D&S), the largest retail chain in Chile, confirmed last week that it will enter Peru next year and open three new premises in Lima under the new store format SuperBodega Acuenta, according to andina.com.pe

'The idea is probably starting with three premises in Lima next year, since we believe it is a good opportunity,” D&S general manager Enrique Ostalo is quoted as saying.

Mr Ostalo said SuperBodega Acuenta stores will be located in places where people with low and middle incomes live, since the business targets lower-income consumers and supplies own-brand products.

'For D&S the arrival in Lima is not a priority in a short term but in a medium term, because today we are growing strong in Chile with all our formats”, he added.

D&S is one of Chile’s largest supermarket operators, ranking among the top 10 in Latin America, according to andina.com.pe.
