US-based multinational Chiquita Brands International has launched a new promotion aimed at increasing the consumption of fresh produce amongst children.

The back-to-school campaign will promote fresh fruit snacks and salads in a series of television and print advertisements that run through to November, The Packer reported.

Targeting parents and other consumers, the campaign focuses on Chiquita Fruit Bites, Chiquita bananas and Fresh Express Gourmét Salads.

'With national statistics reporting that 90 per cent of kids choose to eat before doing anything else when they get home, Chiquita believes it's important that they make healthy decisions,' said group vice-president of salads and healthy snacking Joe Huston in a news release.
