Carrefour

Despite media reports to the contrary, Carrefour have insisted it will not be selling its stores in South East Asia, and will instead press on with opening new stores in Malaysia, according to a company statement.

Carrefour claimed on Wednesday that it was business as usual for every store, Malaysia's The Star reported.

'In 2010, four Carrefour hypermarkets have been opened in Malaysia and another four are slated to be opened by the year-end,' the statement read.

Reports earlier this week suggested the firm was looking for buyers for its interests in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, which could have reaped the company as much as US$1bn.
