Peppers Israel Fruit Logistica

Haluco Exports, a new fresh produce export company established earlier in the year by Israeli company AdaFresh and Dutch importer Haluco, says it expects to get shipments underway next month with its first direct sales of Israeli peppers to customers in eastern and western Europe.

As reported in the latest issue of Eurofruit, the development of closer ties between AdaFresh, which is establishing a reputation as a key supplier of fresh produce from Israel to markets worldwide, and Haluco, in which Ireland-based Total Produce recently took a 60 per cent shareholding, is being seen as a significant development in terms of cross-border collaboration between two of the European fresh produce trade’s foremost countries.

"This is the first time that an international fresh produce company such as Haluco has opened a branch in Israel," said AdaFresh owner Avi Kadan.

"The company has been formally registered and will start to function on a daily basis when pepper exports start at the end of October."

He added: "AdaFresh will expand its own activities – by adding both selected growers and new customers – to follow the increased marketing activities generated by Haluco Export."

Haluco director Jan van der Lugt commented: "With this partnership we want to bring all of our knowledge together. Adafresh has extensive knowledge and experience of the Israeli trade, so by combining this knowledge with our expertise we can deliver direct from Israel to our customers in Europe.

"We will thus save a lot on logistics costs and the product will naturally be fresher when it reaches the client."
