Swiss logistics group Kuehne and Nagel has announced that Tim Scharwath will head up the group's north-west Europe region, and is set to take up the position on 1 January 2009.

The moves follows the appointment of previous incumbent Peter Ulber to the company's international management board in October this year.

Mr Scharwath has held a number of management positions within Kuehne and Nagel since joining the group in 1992, ranging from sales to operations and marketing. Most recently he held the position as national manager for the Netherlands division after a period on the board in Germany as executive vice-president for airfreight.

The group's north-west European organisation is located in the UK, and covers 150 locations throughout Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway Sweden and the UK.
