Super de Boer

Super de Boer has announced stable results for the first half of 2009, with group profit holding steady at €6m despite the current global financial crisis.

Revenue during the six-month period increased from €776m in 2008 to €792m, the group revealed, with earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) falling slightly from €20m to €19m.

'These results were recorded with on average 10 fewer stores than in the first half of 2008,' said group chief executive officer Jan Brouwer. 'Taking the current economic climate into consideration, we are satisfied, and we maintain the course we have set.'

The focus for the rest of the year is on refurbishing stores, capital expenditure of €20m in own stores, increasing private label offerings, improving price positioning, intensifying local marketing and improving store quality through programmes and training courses.
