Banana marketer continues its association with Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October with widespread promotions in stores and online

Chiquita bananas will carry a pink ribbon during October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as the marketer renews its association with the charity project for the sixth time.

In selected food retail stores in Gerrmany, the company plans to install eye-catching displays and distribute a free booklet that features healthy recipe ideas and photos of former boxing world champion Regina Halmich, who explains how screening and self-examination helps with the early detection of breast cancer.

Chiquita’s brand ambassador Miss Chiquita will wear the ribbon as part of a planned social media campaign.

“For the sixth time this year, Miss Chiquita is wearing the Pink Ribbon around the world,” confirms Marc Speidel, Chiquita’s director for northern Europe. “With this we want to show how a small change can have a big impact and attract attention. It’s the little hints that make the difference, repeated on a regular basis. Especially when it comes to prevention!”

A joint campaign in cooperation with Pink Ribbon Germany aims to promote early detection as broadly and sustainably as possible.

“Miss Chiquita stands for good taste and quality worldwide. By tying the pink ribbon to Miss Chiquita, we show our responsibility to society, which extends from farm to fork. The sixth year of cooperation with Pink Ribbon is an expression of a deep understanding and the desire for education and change,” Speidel adds.
